What We Do

We help people in the public sector to improve how they deliver services  by increasing the capability of their people. In a world with unrelenting pressure on budgets and a need to do much more with much less, our customers need to deliver high quality learning programmes in an agile and cost effective way. We work closely with our customers to develop products and services that help them prove return on investment, make tangible savings and include people who are traditionally hard to reach. Every day our customers make real savings by using our services and our community is an almost unique exemplar of how public services will work in the future.

Our services

Our portfolio of servcies has been designed specifically to help organisations in the public sector making us unique in the marketplace. Here’s a quick summary of what we do:

E-learning: The Learning Pool subscription provides local authorities and other public sector bodies with access to a pool of professionally developed e-learning courses, the ability to share and repurpose courses created by other members and even the tools to create their own.

We also provide dedicated e-learning programmes for School Governors and local authority councillors amongst others. For adult social care services provision, we offer a social care e-learning subscription.

Managed Learning: Our Dynamic Learning Environment (DLE) has been developed exclusively for the use of public sector organisations and provides the tools required to manage learning resources and track their effectiveness.

dle managed e-learning picIt also includes a range of innovative features that allow users to make the most of social technologies and make their e-learning programs even more engaging and effective.

Developed in response to the needs of our customers, our DLE provides next generation learning management at a fraction of the cost of other systems and comes complete with free lifetime upgrades.

Social Learning: As the impact – and potential – of the social web becomes ever more evident, Learning Pool is working with public sector organisations to help them build capacity, develop communities of learning, create new platforms and manage social learning projects.

The Learning Pool Community

Learning Pool’s public sector focus, value for money sensibilities and progressive approach to new technologies and ideas have all helped set us apart. But what really makes us unique is our community.

Whether it’s sharing their content with other subscribers or providing feedback for the next set of DLE upgrades, in every way that matters, the Learning Pool community is what drives us forward.

And for members themselves, it’s this community that helps them develop new ideas, improve efficiency and deliver more effective e-learning.

Needless to say, we go out of way to help support and grow this community – both online and off. It’s our most important job and the one we think makes Learning Pool different to other e-learning companies.

The History of Learning Pool

Learning Pool was set up by the IDeA in 2002, but we’ve been independent and privately run since 2006.

The initial aim of the project was to create a centralised e-learning resource that local authorities could dip into – helping reduce the amount of duplicated efforts up and down the country.
