Michelle We get all staff who complete a qualification to sign a training agreement that says they must pay back costs if they leave the Council within 2 years of completion (as well as a couple of other clauses such as non completion) Is this the sort of thing you mean? If so give me [...]

By any chance does anyone already have an agreement form that staff sign for paying back learning and development costs. We are thinking about doing a pay back scheme for qualifications/courses and need to write a form for staff to sign and was wandering if someone already is using one.

Hi Jean,
Yes this is something that we could amend for you. If you would like to drop me an email direct on patrick@learningpool.com with what you would like to have it renamed too and I can arrange this for you.

Hi,
I don’t know why.. but we have an increasing number of employees who see the Ticker Tape and think there is something wrong when they see the word “Alert” – I wondered if this could be changed to “Messages” or something similar. I don’t have the access rights to change it myself.

I think it all comes down to what you have on the system and who you allow to have access to it. Areas of your DLE can be restricted by enrolment keys and other course resistriction methods. There are obviously things that some people need to have access to and you hope they do not [...]

Depends on who has access to your DLE. If you’re concerned with material being copied a simple Alt + 0169 (the © symbol) in the footer protects you.
It begs the question, who is giving access to people who shouldn’t have it?

Yes, I’m pushing this back up the list. I’ve started some research and I’d also be interested in any case studies or stories people may be willing to share. Thanks

In my mind the ability to be able to freely share knowledge via online documents is one of the strengths of a DLE. I think the concern was that any documents available electronically could be copied and shared with those who should not have access to them thus infringing IPR. Be keen to know if [...]

We go to the SME with a suggestion for a learning intervention. They generally suggest wordy content. We edit. They add more ‘slides’. We edit. They use copyright images, unusual images, no images. We edit. We recommend they use the templates, they like to author into the AT. We edit. Our edit role is validation [...]

Folks
We have had a query raised about sending out documents electronically and intellectual property rights.
Given that a lot of our documents will soon be stored on our Totara/DLE system what are your views about documents being freely available in this way?
