Donald Clark courts controversy at Public Sector Learning Conference

Today’s Public Sector Learning conference has been opened by Donald Clark, the marmite man of e-learning.

With sidesweeps against Maslow’s hierarchy of needs (”As a trainer do you ever ask someone if they have a house before they start to learn with you?  What a load of bollocks!”) Donald kicks off proceedings in a provocative and sensitive manner.  And don’t think virtualonline environments like Second Life get off easier.

Top tip from Donald - use virtual worlds to teach E&D and, if you’re a man, log on as a woman and see how differently you’re treated (and vice versa, of course).

Thought provoking and always engaging, Donald talked about generation Y and how his two teenage boys use today’s technology in a learning and collaborative way.

Slides to follow shortly.

Donald, always polemical, always challenging. As usual he made people stop and re-evaluate learning and the processes we use to engage learning.
For a chap who has retired there is nothing retiring about his presentation style; in your face! As always he is able to back up his stance with good research and practical examples.
Excellent session.
