One of the things we hear regularly from Learning Pool members is that they appreciate the networking opportunities that being part of our club brings. With that in mind we recently facilitated an e-learning networking group for Wales, kindly hosted by Cardiff Council, with great success. What’s the purpose of the Wales e-learning body? The WEB has been set up to create a successful network of public sector e-learning practitioners within Wales who will maximise the return on investment from their Learning Pool subscription and any other technology related learning opportunities by:

When the lovely Baroness Kinnock, newly appointed Minister for Africa and steadfast supporter of lifelong learning, is the keynote speaker at your launch party in a new overseas territory you know you must be doing something right. Ok, maybe a little of last night was pure happenstance - but it is true that Learning Pool launched in South Africa at the UK Commissioner’s residence in Johannesburg – and what a location!

Last week one of our Learning Pool piggies took a swim in the River Thames. This wasn’t a mishap on our part or even deliberate and wanton cruelty to a poor blue plastic object. No – this was our message in a bottle to those a little further upstream to us. This merriment took place at our Summer Party, held last week on the lovely HMS President in the River Thames – you can read a little more about the event itself from Liz Azyan’s post ‘LP party Highlight: Let’s googleize local government!’

So tomorrow I'm going to be a CELEB for a day! No its not what you're thinking, LOL. I've been invited to join Learning Pool on the HMS President in London to be apart of the Capital E-Learning Exchange Body (CELEB) for London local authorities. Now I know that alot of my readers and twitterati's are in fact from London authorities, so this might be an interesting one to keep up with on twitter tomorrow. The hashtag will be #lpceleb.

When one of the speakers talks about the padded headrests in the urinals of the Tower nightclub in Hull you know you’re not in your average local government meeting. These are the sorts of words that, when mentioned during delivery of a busy customer briefing, can make the watching Sales Director’s blood run cold – for a few seconds anyway.
