Learning Pool User Guide | Accordion Course Format

January 14, 2013 by Ryan Doherty

Welcome to our brand new blog series, introducing user guides that will help you make the most of your DLE. This blog will show you how to use the Accordion Course Format.

What is the Accordion Course Format?

This feature is a new (2013) addition to the DLE platform that allows you to improve how your course looks when learners open it.

We think this is especially useful for courses with a lot of content or where tutors and authors want to direct learners to a specific resource the first time they take the course. In a nutshell, the accordion format allows you to take this….

and in less than five minutes, make it look like this!

There are  five steps in setting up new or existing courses using the accordion format. Shown below are the first three steps that are needed:

Step 1 – Find the course and select Edit Settings from the Settings block

Step 2 – In the Format option, select Accordion Course Format and then Save Changes

Step 3 – Make sure the section titles are correct. If you have used the correct title tags within your course then this will happen automatically. If not, don’t worry. Just click the Turn Editing On button and select the pencil icon in the title you want to edit. Then simply uncheck the Use Default Section Name and type in the section name you want. In the example below we’ve just copied and pasted the existing text.

Repeat this process for all the sections in your course.
