The welcome party will tell you that they have an easy job. Why? Because we have great relationships with our customers so they can shout about real success and real appreciation from real people. They won’t badger you with emails or do a hard sell. Instead there’ll be lots of chat, plenty of tea, and every now and again, some cakes to get the party started!
Emma is a digital marketing expert and has been part of the team since early 2007. Emma will do her best to make you the star of the show! She loves promoting customer successes, helping them get the recognition they deserve. She sneezes when she eats mints, is a chocolate addict and can do an impressive amount of football keep ups.
Senior Marketing Executive
Lisa guides our customers to the cutting-edge of what's hot in the world of learning by rolling out our Learning Hours, annual conferences, ezines and success stories. She transfers her kick-ass attitude to marketing from her years spent kickboxing across the UK & Ireland – she holds a 1st Dan black belt!
Digital Marketing Executive
Our website is Serena's passion and she makes sure the customer journey through learningpool.com is effective and efficient. As a Digital Marketing expert, she's also been known to wake up in the middle of the night to check page rankings on Google. She’s slightly obsessed with Tom Hardy, her favourite band are Mumford and Sons and her favourite thing to do is laugh… a lot.
Business Development Executive
Michael makes sure that customers get the right solution to help drive improvements in their organisation. He will always be a bit of a movie geek at heart having studied media in college. He’s an Aston Villa fan and in the past has interviewed Daniel O Donnell for college radio. He also met Julianne Moore on the set of Laws of Attraction.
Rachael will help get you off the ground with your e-learning, providing support with customer launches and events as well as helping bring our community together with our annual conferences. Surprisingly Rachael doesn't know the exact day that she was born due to her hospital records and birth certificate having different dates. Her mother isn't sure either.
Business Development Executive
Catherine will help you find the right approach to improve your training blend.Her favourite thing about her job is the pride she feels by helping customers make a real difference in their organisation. When she's not practising the art of customer satisfaction, she loves playing, watching and tweeting about sport - especially GAA. Her first pet was a deaf cat called Naseem and she once met Eileen Grimshaw from Coronation Street.
Ian is the Product Manager for Modern Governor and joined Learning Pool in July 2014. Prior to that he worked in the School Improvement services of Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire LAs for fourteen years.
He once brought a three-foot-long sword back from Burkina Faso on a British Airways flight, as hand luggage. He plays the guitar and loves to surf and mountain bike.

Everyone loves a great story and we've learned that your users will too. Our content team tell great learning stories with the latest tools and technology for online interaction. They’re the people who bring your learning story to life, translating subjects into logical and engaging training tools that make knowledge easy to absorb and stick to the inside of peoples’ brains.
Head of Content
Lindsey skillfully steers our content ship with extensive experience in instructional design and project management. As well as creating new content for customers, Lindsey continually works to refresh Learning Pool's e-learning catalogue with courses that our customers want. Lindsey counts travelling as one of her great passions and also attended high school in Hong Kong! She dislikes grumpy people and believes moaning is a fairly pointless activity. We agree Lindsey!
Our content wizard Arlene makes sure our Learning Catalogue and customer LMS sites are updated regularly with fresh and relevant content. She once bumped into Noddy Holder in Manchester, is a morning person and the strangest thing she's ever eaten is shark.
Ryan O Hara
Ryan is the newest addition to our Content Development team and is responsible for keeping our Catalogue up to date with engaging and informative courses for our clients.
Ryan had an international upbringing, and was raised in the likes of Australia, Malaysia, Qatar, Taiwan and Turkey. He once sat behind Sir Bobby Robson on an aeroplane, and was married in the same Gibraltar registry office that saw John Lennon and Yoko Ono tie the knot. He recently got a dog, which he’s having trouble bonding with.
Content Development Project Manager
Eoin helps co-ordinate our growing content development team takes great pride in making sure our Learning Catalogue is bang up-to-date. He has a great attention for detail and is also a keen journalist. He combines his love of writing and football in his regular football blogs. He loves football, music and has a strange fear of coins and small, ornate metallic objects. No, we don't know why either.
Kevin will make sure your learning is memorable and entertains your audience! He designs and builds our e-learning modules as well as maintaining our online catalogue. He has high attention to detail and rigorously checks new content to make sure it's of the highest standard for our customers. He’s always wanted to visit Oahu in Hawaii because it’s the island where they filmed Lost and the most famous person he’s ever met is Barry from Eastenders.
If you can think it... these are the people who will make it happen. These digital natives might not look like rocket scientists but they could probably, if they put their minds to it, get us to the moon and back in a day. Not only do they blow our minds as a matter of routine but they consistently work hard to make sure that our technology is innovative and constantly advancing. Just don’t ask them to make you a cup of java...
Steve's role involves working closely with our development and support teams to ensure that we deliver high quality services to our customers. He loves football: playing, watching, talking...just anything to do with football. He also enjoys playing the guitar and once ate a horse burger (Intentionally!).
Anthony is another of our talented Web Developers who works meticulously on our Totara LMS customer projects.
His first time at a zoo was for his 28th birthday, he enjoys tabletop gaming, cooking, writing and he once walked past Courtney Cox in Sainsburys.
Dennis’ job is to build great new features for our LMS customers that wow customers and make their jobs easier. He’s also heavily involved in building our Adapt responsive e-learning solutions. Before Learning Pool, Dennis ran his own company which developed educational games. He has a habit of absent mindedly reciting song lyrics that reveal his subconscious attitude to whatever is happening at the time. When playing video games he sometimes sings 'You're my favourite waste of time' by Owen Paul.
Making sure that our technology is constantly advancing, Lee concentrates on our future developments, improvements and bug fixing, making our customer journey as smooth as possible. You’ll usually find Lee up all night working or watching films rather than sleeping. He believes he was an owl in a past life.
Pete works harder to make your job easier. With an eagle eye for detail, he makes transferring user and course data a painless experience. He’s also a fantastic mentor to our rising stars, providing advice, support and sarcasm in equal measure. Pete is a bit of a legend at Learning Pool – he’s never short of a few jokes and is painfully honest at times. He likes basket weaving, bird watching, books, botany and butterflies - we're not joking!
Chloe is a student developer on placement from Queens University, Belfast. At present she is helping to update user data and maintain features on our Learning Management Systems. She loves the outdoors, fishing, gardening, and walks with her dog Riley. The most famous person she's met to date is Kit Harington aka Jon Snow at The Limelight in Belfast.
Our customers love the reliability of our service and the main reason for that is called Michael! He’s our resident ‘fixer’ and works tirelessly to keep our hosting infrastructure up to date and ready to support the million + learners who use our services. He'd love to walk the Inca Trail and visit Machu Picchu and he once met Shane MacGowan in an airport bar. He's not 100% sure what he said to him but he thinks he was expressing his dissatisfaction at being refused entry on an earlier flight.
Lee works hard to makes sure all is as it should be before any new developments get released to our our customers. He’s always wanted to visit Hong Kong and the weirdest thing he’s ever eaten is a kangaroo burger which he enjoyed very much.
Rob makes sure our tech is up to par, performing regular server tests, ensuring consistency and reliability. He also takes care of us, fixing any minor hardware problems in the office- we'd be lost without him! He is a self-confessed video-game-aholic with a slight addiction to Starcraft and once queued for 5 hours outside a London book shop to meet JK Rowling.
Gareth is a Student Developer currently on placement from the University of Ulster and splits his time between our Development and QA teams.
He is a huge F1 fan, has been to Rome, Berlin & Amsterdam, and can play the flute and snare drum.
Senior Software Engineer
Brian is the technical brains behind our Adapt product, leading the development of the content builder and a whole lot besides. His passion is making sure our customers stay ahead of the curve with the latest advancements in technology. He’s a huge fan of live music and has admittedly been in more failed bands than he cares to remember – that’s lucky for us.
Ryan is a Student Developer currently on placement from the University of Ulster. He helps to maintain and develop features for our customer sites. He loves to play video games, has built his own PC, and has a habit of buying games that he will never play.
Conan Mc Nicholl
Conan is one of our Rising Stars, on a placement year from university. He's been thrown in at the deep end helping customers make LMS improvements look great and work. Gaming is his favourite past time and he also enjoys going to the cinema and playing football. He has four brothers and five sisters and is an uncle to 11 nephews and nieces.
Nils works his magic on themes for our customers’ learning management systems, making sure they are as beautiful and as user-friendly as possible. He loves snowboarding, is a dab hand at badminton and has always wanted to visit America to watch the Superbowl live.
Paul is currently on placement from the University of Ulster where he is studying Software Development.
He works closely with both our Development and QA teams, ensuring all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed.
He enjoys playing football, watching TV, can speak fluent Turkish and once shared a beer with Fat Boy Slim while on holidays.
The guys who make sure you and your learners are always connected aren't always high profile, but they’re always highly thought of. Around here, we call them lots of things – legends, superstars and miracle workers – You’ll appreciate them just as much as we do for their positive attitude and ability to save the day, every day! They promise lots of charm, wit and the odd corny joke along the way which is what makes them pretty unique.
Technical Support Executive
If you’re ever in a muddle –Damian is your man! He’s one of our support stars, working hard to continually delight our customers, coaching them through every step and detail, making sure all of their questions are answered. He once met Robbie Williams, the lead singer of the band Elbow bought him a pint and he counts being able to move his ears independently as one of his best party tricks.
Customer Support Executive
David is undoubtedly the happiest member of our fantastic Support Team and is always on hand to help our customers when they need him. He once met Barack Obama, is crazy about football and once successfully licked his own elbow. We’re not sure why he tells people that.
Our support star Patrick helps our Total customers get the most from their service, providing all kinds of help with patience and understanding. He would love to visit Antartica, his favourite thing to do is relax and is full name is Patrick Barnabald Stephen Coyle.
Customer Support Manager
Aine leads our Moodle accredited support team and she balances making sure our customers get the most out of Learning Pool with keeping the practical jokers among our support team in line beautifully! With the patience of a saint and a wealth of technical skills, Aine has an ability to understand problems and diagnose solutions quickly - helping our customer every step of the way. She would love to one day visit New York, do a bungee jump or a skydive and she can only eat dinner if all the food on the plate is the same colour.
Customer Support Executive
Laura is part of our Customer Support Team and is responsible for making sure our customers have everything they need, even after working hours. She is also in her final year of studying ICT at The University of Ulster.
She loves to stay fit and healthy by going to the gym and even ran the Belfast marathon this year. Go Laura!
Rising Star - Customer Support
The fabulous Rachel is a Rising Star in our Support Team who is on hand to offer a wide range of technical support to our customers. She loves listening to music, believes herself to be quite the rapper and the hardest thing she’s ever had to do is watch Man City lift the Premier League trophy, twice.
Billy helps our Totara customers and ensures that projects are delivered in an effective and efficient manner. He's had cause to blush due to some of the excellent feedback he's received from our customers grateful for the patient help and advice he's given. He's a fitness fanatic, eats Tuna every day for his lunch and he won the All Ireland Heavy Jig in in 1990.
Junior Technical Support Executive
Shannon works on our support desk and is always on hand to offer advice, support and handy hints to help customers get the most from their learning. She loves to read- especially the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett and was a member of The Scouts for over 14 years, competing in several competitions and getting involved with events like the Special Olympics.
Junior Technical Support Executive
Sean is one of our Rising Stars, learning the ropes on what world-class customer service is all about. He was once ranked number 1 in the world for Worms 2 on the Xbox 360 and he loves to play football at the lowest level and criticise those playing at the highest.
With a strong focus and sheer determination to help, John plays an integral role in resolving our customers’ queries. He also works on supporting customers with Encore, our spaced- practice mobile app, making sure users get the best out of this product. His favourite hobbies include playing football, watching football and online gaming. He can do a mean impression of an air-horn and other trumpet-like instruments on request.
Customer Support Executive
Gary is part of our evening and weekend Customer Support Team. He is always smiling and is on hand to deliver award-winning customer service to our customers, even on Bank Holidays.
Gary once played Geppetto in a school play, his favourite things are music and football and he once met Robert Smith from The Cure.
Customer Support Executive
Declan is in charge of our evening and weekend Customer Support Team and will ensure your query will be responded to even outside of 9-5, Monday to Friday hours.
He loves watching football, reading about football, playing golf and once rambled on to Edith Bowman at a DJ box for over 10 minutes.
Customer Support Team Leader
Peter spends his time giving clear and patient advice to our customers either on the phone or via email. A natural communicator, Peter is friendly and dedicated and has received excellent feedback for the support he’s given, in a timely and efficient way. He plays the drums and guitar, the most famous person he’s ever met is Santa Claus and he has an annoying inability to keep his legs still for more than 5 seconds.
Technical Support Executive
Originally one of our Rising Stars, Andrew is now a fully fledged member of our support team. Andrew's just a call away, working on our support desk, and always goes that extra mile to keep our customers happy. He’s addicted to his Playstation and once presented to a full room of people at University with his jaw wired shut after an operation.
The Mobile Makers
These guys take the e-learning world… and put it in your pocket. They deliver solutions that make learning possible any time, any place anywhere and stay on top of the very latest technology to keep you at the forefront of innovation. They are truly at the leading edge of training and make it much more fun, engaging and memorable.
Multi-talented Ciaran has a few roles at Learning Pool but his main responsibility is building fantastic mobile apps that help people learn and are enjoyable to use. His favourite thing to do is eat, particularly during working hours and don’t let his baby face fool you, he’s actually 38.
Lead iOS developer
Keelin is the lead iOS developer for our magnificent Mobile Team. He also lends his knowledge to other areas including web development for our new CMS system. He loves cycling, GAA and all things sport.
Ryan is a Student Developer who joined our Mobile Team in June this year. Currently on placement from University of Ulster, Ryan's role involves all things mobile including Android and PHP projects across a range of Learning Pool products.
He once fell 20 foot out of a tree when he was 12 but never broke a bone, loves football, traveling, gaming and technology.
A true Man United fan, Ryan met Alex Ferguson, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane before a game at Old Trafford.
Our technical architect, Ryan heads up our mobile app division, helping customers create a unique experience for their learners. Before joining our team, Ryan was a Lead Developer with the BBC working on the Knowledge & Learning content. He’s always wanted to go to Space, still dreams of one day becoming an astronaut and recently bought himself a field- yes- just a field.
The Personal Trainers
When you join the Learning Pool community these guys will take personal responsibility for making sure your project lives up to the expectations you've set. They cajole and encourage, manoeuvre and motivate, taking small steps and making giant leaps to deliver your project on time and within budget. What’s more, they continue to support you throughout, and take great pride in seeing you succeed. We think they are a delight to work with. But we’ll let you be the judge of that.
David is our Irn Bru drinking Scot who joined the team in July 2014 as a Learning Consultant. By working closely with our customers, he ensures that they get maximum ROI on their subscription. Having built up a reputation of delivering excellent customer service, David sees himself as an extension of our customer's L&D teams, offering training, user engagement, or simply a chat about the next steps on their ongoing elearning journey.
His first trip abroad was to Columbia and the hardest thing he's ever had to do was pass a kidney stone. Nice.
Maeve knows all there is to know about delivering our promises to our customers. With a background in customer support and experience in keeping promises, Maeve is a logical and methodical person with a positive sunny outlook. She's also one of the first up on the dance floor at parties. She’s obsessed with Grand Designs and one of her favourite hobbies is to surf –which in her words is “falling lots and swallowing sand and sea water”.
Ciaran oversees the super smooth running of our LMS project delivery and Custom Development proposals. He also works with Totara Service Delivery to ensure we’re getting the best as a Totara LMS Partner. He’s a 7th son so apparently he has mystical powers! He once had a pint with Alex Higgins and the hardest thing he’s ever done is retire from playing football.
Ben holds the crown for being the very first member of the team! He works very closely with our customers, making sure they get the most out of the Learning Pool community and is known for his patience, good humour and customer focus. He is a great mentor and loves nothing more than seeing one of his customers grow and develop their e-learning achievements. He has some interesting tattoos, his life as a movie would be The Life of Brian 2 and he loves to get out on his motorcycle as much as possible.
Andrew's wit, charisma and patience make him a person with the customer's needs always in mind. With a wealth of experience and excellent organisation skills, Andrew will deliver your project painlessly and on schedule. He enjoys the odd musical, is a closet Trecky and was once introduced to DJ Paul Oakenfold.
Dawn has real passion for people and organisational development and has worked with a wide range of organisations to help them reap the benefits of our products and services. Dawn is a qualified member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development and has over 25 years practical experience of learning and development. Dawn loves to golf and tries to play once a week if she can, even if it is raining. She also enjoys budgie breeding, is afraid of heights and her favourite film is 'It's a Wonderful Life'.
Rory will make sure your project runs smoothly. With a real passion for customer satisfaction and high attention to detail, he understands the technology and practical challenges customers face so he can deliver exactly what they need. He’s an Arsenal fan, has always wanted to visit The Maldives and the most famous person he’s ever met is Frank Bruno.
Kevin is responsible for ensuring our customers get the most out of our services. At a practical level he is charged with assisting with strategy, engagement, rollout and instructional design. Kevin shares knowledge and experience across the community, provides coaching and workshops and hosts on-going regional meetings for community members to share ideas and experiences with one another.
Chris works with a range of organisations to help them reap the benefits of our services and loves finding new ways to engage learners. He runs regional meetings with his customers and spends lots of time with customers giving them advice on how to create the right blend of training for the best results. His favourite thing to do in the summer is travel around a Greek Island on a scooter and the weirdest thing he's ever eaten is glass... we didn't ask either!
Sean helps customers get on board with Learning Pool and ensures that projects are delivered to our customers quickly and with no fuss. Sean understands the pressure and expectations that our customers face and he does everything he can to ease the process of change and make implementation of our products as easy as possible. He’d love to visit Japan to sample the culture, food and technology, the weirdest thing he’s ever eaten is crocodile and he has ten pet fish ... all called Bob.

Our success so far owes a lot to the people who started the company and who've driven it ever since. Don’t let the cuddly façade fool you! These guys are an ambitious lot and have a serious mission to transform our customer organisations and change the world along the way. So far they've broken down barriers, built a fantastic team, changed the way organisations think about learning and delivered real returns for our customers. Who knows what they’ll come up with next!
Business Improvement Manager
Louise works on improving all aspects of our internal processes to ensure the best Customer Service experience around. Her favourite question is “why” and the answer usually means we change or improve something so our service can get better and better. She’s always wanted to visit Disneyland, loves to spend time with her family and friends and enjoys swimming and visiting new places.
Chief Technology Officer
Mark is in charge of delivering our ambitious technical road-map of enhancements and new features. He’s got a ton of technology experience and real passion for delivering for our customers with his team of tech experts. He competes in triathlons, is a lightning strike survivor and once auditioned for a boy band - sadly his voice broke half way through the audition and he didn't make it through to the next stage.

Since the day he and a group of lively, if random, folks sat round his kitchen table to start Learning Pool, Paul’s been causing all sorts of trouble around here. He coined the phrase ‘Learning as a Service’ and makes that the starting point for a lot of our strategic decisions. All that’s a long story but today Paul leads the team and drives our strategy to make Learning Pool the provider of choice for people who want to properly improve performance.
Head of Sales and Marketing
Sam works with customers to understand their goals and how our solutions can help achieve them. He loves getting out there and talking with people to tell them all about Learning Pool & is a great communicator with a natural, sunny outlook - a real people person! The hardest thing he's ever had to do was leave the beaches of Southern California to endure the weather of Ireland. He loves to make people smile and he once me Liam and Noel Gallagher, Rachel Hunter and Rebecca Ramijn-Stamos all at a concert in Las Vegas.
Donald has been involved in the e-learning industry for more than 20 years, designing some of the first computer-based learning programmes in the early 1980s. As former CEO of Epic Group PLC, Donald’s experience ranges from programming to course development, commercial delivery and strategic management.
Now retired from this role, he remains committed to e-learning and its potential to revolutionise the access to and delivery of education for both individuals and businesses. He's an e-learning thought leader, prolific blogger, proud Scotsman and a School Governor.
Dr Bryan Keating
Non Executive Chairman
Dr Bryan Keating is one of Northern Ireland's most successful entrepreneurs and brings an unbelievable amount of experience to Learning Pool. He co-founded CEM Computers Ltd and CEM Systems Ltd, and has been a board member and an investor in a number of high-tech companies.
He is a visiting Professor of Entrepreneurship at the University of Ulster and gives lectures on entrepreneurship and risk-taking. He is also a fellow of Royal Society of Arts, holds a D.Phil from the University of Ulster in Solid State Physics and a first-class honours degree in Physics from Queens University, Belfast.
Chief Operations Officer
Deborah is our resident expert in all things learning and development. She’s completely focussed on ensuring that our customers have an excellent experience from the moment they start using Learning Pool and she drives our product development strategy to match what customers need. Her team work with customers every day to help them deliver great learning that drives performance improvement in their organisations.
The Responsible Adults
It’s a tough job but someone has to do it! These guys smooth our days with the kind of efficient administration that underpins the most successful and high-achieving organisations. Our admin team grease the wheels, dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s every step of the way.
Keeping everything running smoothly in our office is no easy task, but Daniela juggles the manic phones and busy reception with ease. She has a twin sister, is a shopaholic, and hailing from Buenos Aires in Argentina. the hardest thing she's ever done is adapt to Irish weather!
Stephen is our Financial Controller and is in charge of looking after all financial aspects of Learning Pool.
He's super-fit and regularly competes in Triathlons, plays football and cycles hundreds of miles every month.
He flew solo in a glider when he was 16, sang on the Royal Variety Performance in 2000 with the Omagh Community Youth Choir and once met Kylie Minogue.
Sharon is our organiser extraordinaire, and plays a big part in the smooth running of our well-oiled admin machine. She loves to do a bit of DIY, can drill through water pipes and can claim Patrick Keilty as an old neighbour.
The Queen of Cool, Ashley keeps a lot of plates spinning, dealing with the everyday demands of a very busy office in a calm and efficient manner. Mexico is her favourite holiday destination, she loves cooking for friends and family and she sees herself as a morning person.
Our Graphic designers and UX guys are much more than Mac Monkeys, they’re artistic geniuses that make us – and you – look good. Their skills go more than skin deep – they’re also experts in usability, making sure your learners’ journey is easy, enjoyable and straightforward. Any idiot can make something complicated… making it easy is the hard bit.
Samantha Mc Ginley
The uber cool and creative Samantha works her design magic on the assets you'll see in our e-learning modules. She loves gaming, movies, drawing and reading and once met Avril Lavigne at a concert when she was 16.
Tony works hard to deliver the best possible web experience for our end users. He’s passionate about designing products that mean users don’t have to think, so they can get on with the learning… good traits when you work around here! He’d love to visit Area 51 in Nevada and likes to follow new technology and pine for stuff he’ll never be able to afford.
Kara designs inspiring new content for our Adapt courses, working closely with our Instructional Design team to make sure our content is relevant and engaging. Before Learning Pool, Kara gained over 9 years experience working as a studio manager for various design consultancies, creating artwork for clients such as Sony, UPC and Janssen-Cilag. She once met comedian Michael Moore and the weirdest thing she’s ever eaten is Korean stew which she described as watery soup, mixed with vegetables/tofu and a boiled egg – lovely!
The lovely Ruth brings a special zing to our visual presence and to our customers' sites. The impressive graphics work Ruth has created for a number of high profile projects have helped to ensure an interactive and engaging experience for learners. Ruth loves fashion, chocolate mini rolls and Rod Stewart. Not necessarily in that order.
Paul creates the beautiful graphics and backgrounds that compliment the text of our e-learning modules. He previously worked as a freelance 3D modeller and animator where his biggest project was the motion graphics for Irelands entry to Eurovision in 2014. He has two dogs named Depeche and Humbug and he once met Daniel Day-Lewis on an escalator in Sligo.
The uber-cool Allyson creates simply beautiful styling and graphics for our Adapt courses. She plays acoustic guitar, loves to get outside, go to live shows and once sat behind Professor Green in Nandos.
Design genius Mary makes sure our Adapt courses are a piece of art and works hard to create designs that delight our customers. Before joining our team, she worked as a freelance designer with a broad client list in both the arts and business world. Mary was awarded the prestigious Derek Hill Award for Art and Design in 2012. She plays piano and guitar, collects old vinyl records, and admits that she has a terrible singing voice.
Paul has been doodling ever since he could hold a pencil. A master of animation – all of the graphic work that you see on this site was created by Paul – from scratch. A multi-faceted creator, he designs and brands new themes for our customer LMS sites, creates beautiful graphics for our Adapt courses and also adds to the iconic Learning Pool brand.
