The role

This role presents a fantastic opportunity for an experienced developer, with strong people management skills and who can influence the development roadmap.

The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the successful delivery of software projects within the company, ensuring that software is of a professional standard and is developed using industry best practices. The role requires working with other members of the technical team to ensure that code is written to a high standard and developing new features for key platforms while ensuring they remain robust and reliable. They will keep up to date with the latest trends in the field of software development, and will ensure their technical knowledge and skills are kept up to date accordingly. This role reports to the software Team Lead.

What you'll be doing

The successful candidate will

  • develop and maintain key platforms using JavaScript/NodeJS, PHP, and MySQL
  • work with stakeholders to develop viable solutions to complex requirements
  • collaborate on the planning, scoping and technical design of bespoke software projects
  • provide leadership within the software development team to ensure successful and timely delivery of software projects
  • use unit-testing and other testing approaches to ensure software is robust and reliable
  • review code submissions from the team and feedback to ensure code quality
  • building and maintaining of continuous integration and deployment processes.

Who we are looking for

At interview we’ll want to see that you can demonstrate:

  • third level qualification in Computer Science or similar field
  • 5+ years professional experience in Software Development
  • JavaScript, NodeJS, JS Frameworks (React/Redux or similar), MongoDB, HTML5, CSS, Less
  • knowledge of NLP tools and conversational interfaces (for example Dialogflow, LEXX, LUIS)
  • exposure to AWS technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, Cognito,  SNS, SQS, Cloud Watch, Secrets Manger etc.
  • distributed search and analytics engines such as ElasticSearch
  • RESTful web services, distributed application design, design patterns
  • highly motivated, results oriented, with a focus on quality
  • demonstrated ability to lead a team in an Agile / Scrum environment, and excellent oral and written communication skills
  • ability to communicate well outside of the technical team, and comfortable dealing with everyone from front-line support to the senior executive team
